Saved for a Purpose

We are so happy that your teenager will be attending Camp Arete! We look forward to serving your son or daughter this year, and it is going to be a great year.

Our theme for camp this year is “Saved for a Purpose.” Our goal is to equip these young men and women with the knowledge that God’s purpose in His redemptive work is our service to Him. He has equipped each one of us with every spiritual blessing to accomplish that service. As Paul says in his epistle to the Ephesians:

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”

Pastor David Roseland, from Preston City Bible Church, will be teaching our morning sessions. He will be focusing on the last words our Lord shared with His disciples just before He was taken up to be seated at our Heavenly Father’s right hand. In these words, we will find a direction and purpose that transcends all temporal destinies. A direction with eternal ramifications and enduring value.

Pastor Brad Maston, from Fort Collins Bible Church, will be teaching on the spiritual gifts that each of us receive at the moment of salvation. We have been equipped to serve the body of Christ both as individuals and corporately. God has expectations of each of us to serve, and He has supernaturally equipped us to fulfill those expectations.

Pastor Clay Ward, from Pleroma Bible Church, will be teaching the evening sessions, and he will cover all the theological underpinnings of our redemption. These eternal truths should transform our thinking and, subsequently, our lives. God’s work in redeeming us not only saves us, but it has practical results. Paul expressed it this way in Romans:

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.”

Of course, we have an action-packed and fun-filled week of activities, games, Bible memory challenges, and fellowship. This year we are excited about our Bible Olympics, Tribal flag football, an afternoon at the Ocoee River for swimming and games, our Bible character costume contest, square-dance, and many, many other wonderful times of fun and fellowship. All the while we will be enjoying the beauty of God’s creation in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee.

We are looking forward to a wonderful week of fellowship in the Word and great activities!

Keep us close in your prayers, especially as there might be a young man or woman who doesn’t know Christ as Savior!

Don’t forget to check our blog daily for pictures, videos, and updates.

Go Arete 2019!

Kind regards,
Jeff
