What a wonderful feeling to be able to finally meet again in person after two years of quarantine! Everybody arrived safely, and all campers and adults surrendered to temperatures and COVID screening by our Nurses. Little by little the campers became greater in number. Although no activities were scheduled, a few girls, on their own, elected to have an initial Bible study and prayer time. What an amazing way to spend their time instead of being idle! They were surely redeeming the time.
As the introductory remarks began, campers were introduced to the overall theme, “Love in Action.” Love is how the world will know we are Christians. Love is the draw for the salvation of mankind. The personal relationship between the believer and God through Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit and must be personal and not a product of obedience to parents or family tradition. Grounded in the very Word of God, the outflow will be natural and draw others into a relationship with Christ.
The schedule was discussed, and the campers were placed on three tribes to compete for points throughout the week, and the winner will receive a winner’s cup. Along the way, all teams are to cheer each other on and encourage one another in love. The competition commenced with a Jeopardy game about safety at camp. Information was enlightening and everyone now knows what critters and foliage to avoid. Everyone was admonished to drink more water and be on the alert for heat exhaustion.
The songs were lively and engaging—all were singing and worshiping! Brad Maston and company have the music well planned and specially designed to complement the teaching that will happen all week.
The evening ended with adults meeting and having prayer … while the kids had a little down time in the mess hall.
Looks like everyone is having a good time!
