The power went off first thing this morning and our staff meeting was by flashlight. Luckily the coffee was made before that occurred. Staff prayer sets the tone for the day and is extremely important.
We are getting seminary level information this week! We are thankful! We want to be able to read the Bible and draw conclusions and protect against the world, flesh, and devil. We are learning how to find answers in the Word of God! The more you study God’s Word, the more effectively you will be able to study God’s Word!
Campers went swimming today! A convoy was arranged for the rented vans and we went to a beach in the Ocoee National Forest. We had the midday class and lunch there along with song time. Kids had a blast!
From Emma the Counselor:
Today we got the opportunity to talk to the guys’ counselors to hopefully shed some light on the positive effect that camp can have even after finishing your time as a camper! When we asked them about camp, we heard words like “fulfilling,” “edifying,” and “full of opportunity.” All three of our guys’ counselors this week said they came here for the kids but will come out having grown in the Word themselves. One of them said that he learned, “patience and lovingkindness. This week was beneficial to not only the kids but for me, too.” Camp Areté has been a learning experience for everyone, campers, counselors, and staff.
Last activity of the evening was learning the camp song, a canon! Like the body of Christ, the canon is comprised of a single line of music that when begun at different times or different pitches will produce harmony. The tribes competed for points on how they performed the song for the judges (Pastors).
