Early this morning in the staff meeting a counselor reported that her girls told her their down time with her for discussion was their favorite part of the day; they really looked forward to it. Also, another said the campers were yearning for more Pastor Panel time because they really appreciated hearing things that usually come from dads, from a Pastoral point of view.
Morning class—correlating 1 Corinthians 13 with Genesis. We are trying to build categories according to what God wants us to know. We covered a list of characteristics of AGAPE love. We develop our skills of observation by simply reading with thoughtful intent to understand exactly what God has communicated in His Word. Challenges from the Pastor: What entanglement holds us back from daily filling up with the fuel of the Word? From really loving as Christ would have us love?
There were several tribal relays in the morning before lunch. Teams built pyramids for points, then passed flour sacks backwards and forwards through a line, dipping into a pan of flour, and finally the famous balloon slingshot competition! Many were wet but happy due to the heat. We are all staying hydrated!
Food challenge tonight was Spam. Love Warriors won by their representative eating an entire can before the other two tribes’ guys could complete the task.
Evening Bible study—tribes are building a biblical rationale to deal with given situations of life. In example: How to support a fellow believer who is being ostracized by peers. This is how we think God’s thoughts and it is what He expects us to do!
The evening ended with a bonfire by the lake, complete with s’mores. Entertainment was provided by Daniel Beck, our resident comedian! Campers were allowed to use their phones for a time in order to hook up with parents, but had to turn them back in again. It was a great day!
