Pastor Clay Ward, Pleroma Bible Church, taught us again last night and emphasized that we are Saved to Serve!
Understanding our positional identity in Christ makes it possible for us to offer ourselves as a living sacrifice that God accepts in Christ. We are believer priests!
In order to do our priesthood duties, we must be both positionally clean and experientially clean. Positional sanctification makes us acceptable before God, but acceptable service requires drawing near by faith.
How does God build up the body of Christ?
Our service includes ambassadorship: prayer, bearing one another’s burdens, and other clear imperatives.
Thoughtful service of worship!
“Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual [thoughtful] service of worship.” Romans 12:1
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.” Romans 12:2
To sum up, our service is rendered by grace through faith in our Savior Who loves us and died for us. I no longer live—Christ lives in me (Galatians 2:20).
